Volunteer

Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

We offer several opportunities to build or repair homes to help us make our home safe and affordable for families in our homeownership program. All skill levels are welcome!

By volunteering with your local Habitat for Humanity, you can be a part of the change you want to see in your community.

Construction

Join us at our build site for a day of working on our homes. We build year round and welcome volunteers of all skills and backgrounds. We only ask that you come to the site ready and willing to listen, learn… and build!

Our construction staff and seasoned volunteers are poised and ready to teach and train We want your volunteer experience to be as rewarding and productive as possible for you. Construction tasks include framing, hanging drywall, painting, laying flooring, landscaping, plumbing, electrical work and even installing the kitchen sink. Experience first-hand how you can be a part of the affordable housing solution.

Non-Construction

Volunteer in our office by preparing mailings or data entry. Volunteer at one of our community projects or fundraising events. Volunteer by providing snacks or lunches for other volunteers.

Committees

Become a committee member and learn how Habitat for Humanity helps families become homeowners. Join our Family Selection Committee, Resource Development Committee or our Board of Directors.

Volunteer Groups – Businesses, Churches, Organizations

Is community service or team building part of your organization’s goals? Consider volunteering as a group at a Habitat home build site. There is much work to be done, and no matter the size of your organization, your efforts will contribute to the Habitat vision of providing safe, affordable housing for Chemung County families.

Many local companies have scheduled corporate team build days with Chemung County Habitat for Humanity. Church and college groups are encouraged to volunteer with us as a community outreach project.
