Since 2010, our Women Build program has offered hands-on learning and training opportunities to help hundreds of female volunteers transform our community and make a lasting difference in the lives of our Habitat homeowners.
Women Build is a special kind of girls’ day out where women empower themselves and one another by learning new skills while working on Habitat homes. It’s all about women helping other women and families build strength, stability and independence through safe, affordable housing. There’s no experience necessary to participate.
You’ll work under the guidance of skilled supervisors and seasoned construction volunteers, and also alongside other female volunteers and our future Habitat homeowners. Bring your friends or family with you or come on your own and make new friends. The atmosphere is collaborative and friendly. We’re focused on empowerment, education and fun. Come ready to learn, leave with a smile and a tool belt full of new skills.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, this is a virtual event. Although there is no substitute for swinging a hammer, you’ll still get to meet other like-minded women through this online format.
Thrivent Faith Build Venture
Make your community even more amazing! Building on Faith is a fun and meaningful opportunity to make a real impact on local needs by participating in a construction or non-construction activity in our community.
We believe everyone deserves decent, affordable housing in a thriving community. That’s why Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent partner together to activate churches, communities, and Thrivent members to make a difference. This year our partnership project involves engaging 100 volunteers from the Chemung County faith community for a neighborhood cleanup near Parley Coburn Elementary School. Anyone in the community is welcome to participate!
